Just goes to show how mean-minded the govt. employees are, the woman referred a calendar while writing the date when I applied. This was in RBANMS opp. office. I went on the 30th, with an affidavit on stamp paper made by a notary from Mayo Hall which cost me 200/- declaring that I had no ration card and no one in my family has ever had one anywhere in K'taka or India for that matter. My father is a retd. Defence Offr. and the Armed Forces have their own rations system. Needless to say, most of the folks working in that office were surly and unhelpful. I went to the seniormost person there, forgot his rank/designation, but he was nice enough to listen to me and cleared the procedure of issuing an APL/honorary Ration Card which I have now. I was losing my temper as I kept listening to the other employees gripe about how something or the other is not okay and deliberately creating obstacles. This officer advised me to keep my cool in my interaction with Govt. offices when I went to thank him and said I'll keep that in mind for the future. They've mentioned in the Ration Card that its for the purpose of applying for a new gas connection, which is true. I din't pay any bribe except the costs of applying which was Rs.10/- and 45/- for the computerised card, my only complaint is that I look terrible(went with a hopeful smile and by the time I was done had a frustrated frown) in the photo but then the idea was to get a functional RC, not a modelling portfolio.......... :) Hope the feedback is useful and thanks once again, Vijay, your blog inspired me with the confidence to get this done.
