When it originally aired on NBC, Seinfeld was publicised as “a show about nothing.” But in reality, it is a show that has given us so much to think about, laugh about and enjoy. I have been watching this serial right from the time I was in college. That was sometime in 2002. Then it used to come on Zee English (now Zee Cafe).
I love everything about Seinfeld! The characters are so well chosen and have well defined personalities of their own. Each one of them – Jerry Seinfeld, George Costanza, Elaine Benes and Cosmo Kramer – adds equal value and performance to the show and gives you something to think about. The best part is that we all know people like these from our day to day lives. In fact, each one of us has a bit of all these characters within us.
Even the supporting cast — Newman, Uncle Leo, George’s parents, Jerry’s parents, Susan Ross and her parents, Bania, Sue Ellen Mischke, “Crazy” Joe Davola, and, last but not the least, bosses George Steinbrenner and J Peterman — all have a personality of their own and have given us such wonderful moments to remember.
Some unforgettable phrases:
“Hello, Newman!” – Seinfeld
“Get out of here!” – Elaine
“George is getting upset!” – George
“It’s the best, Jerry, the best!” – Bania
I love almost every episode of this TV series. Rarely do I come across an episode that I don’t find interesting. I have even bought DVDs of the entire nine seasons. It’s one of my prized possessions!
Thank you, Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, for having given us this amazing show!
